John pleased to be back

28 August 2020

Cameron John says he’s delighted to be back after joining Rovers on a permanent deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The defender agreed a two-year deal at the Keepmoat Stadium after a successful loan spell last season.

He said: “I’m really happy that it’s all finalised and I can come back to a place where I was enjoying my football before lockdown.

“I got a call saying that Rovers were back interested and things materialised quite quickly, it was a decision I had to make.

“It was quite easy for me to say yes, the gaffer was key to me coming here with the work we put in place last season.”

John’s second Rovers debut could come in the Carabao Cup first round tie at Blackburn on Saturday, and he is keen to get going again.

He added: “It’s a quick turnaround but I’m glad it’s like that, I’ve been training since the end of June so I’m ready to play now.

“It was nice to be back around the lads, I spoke to a few in the days leading up to it being announced so it’s good to get involved again.

“It’s a club I know well and I’m familiar with the players and the style here so I know there won’t have to be a period of settling in.”
