A message from Nigel Brewster – chair of Trustees Club Doncaster Foundation
It is with sadness that I announce the departure of our current CEO Lucy Nickson at the end of August 2020. Lucy came into the Foundation a year ago with a specific remit to review the organisation’s strategic operating model, and lead development in unrestricted income, drive growth of the organisation’s profile as a leading community based charity in Doncaster, and create a leadership succession plan beyond her tenure.
While much has been achieved in the last year, like all organisations, the Foundation has been affected significantly by the coronavirus pandemic, and as such faces some additionally challenging years ahead in terms of pressure around income and costs. It is this context which has led Lucy to take up an opportunity that she has been now offered. As a Board, we wish her the best of luck in her new role and have decided to take the opportunity to review the leadership structure of the Foundation. As such, we have been able to agree a structure which will support continuity, strong leadership and financial sustainability going forward.
We are delighted therefore to announce that John Davis, the Foundation’s current chief operating officer, will take up the role of CEO from September 7 when Lucy leaves us. John is extremely well placed to take on this role and the Board are really pleased to be able to support him to take the organisation forward with its revised strategy and comprehensive plans for the next three years.
