Anthony Backhouse will be the man in charge when Rovers travel to face Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup first round this weekend.
The Cumbrian based official took charge of 27 games last season, handing out 89 yellow cards and four reds.
The last Rovers game he refereed was a 3-0 win at home to Southend United in February 2019.
Backhouse will be assisted by Billy Smallwood and Anthony Moore, the fourth official will be Samuel Barrott.
