An update from the chief executive Gavin Baldwin

24 December 2020

An update from chief executive Gavin Baldwin…

In my final update of 2020, I wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2021.

In what has been the most difficult year for most if not all of us, I have been humbled by how well we have come together as one.  Whether it has been the Doncaster Rovers supporters, Doncaster Rovers Belles supporters or Doncaster Rugby League supporters, I have never seen so much togetherness and support for what we are doing as our separate clubs and as a collective.

LNER and Club Doncaster tackling loneliness

22 December 2020

In the past few weeks alone, I have seen our supporters help purchase more than 200 teddy bears, not only raising money for our club but providing Christmas gifts to children who might not get what they want from Santa this year.  Our corporate partners, LNER , have been wonderful in donating 80 hampers to participants of the Club Doncaster Foundation’s Tackling Loneliness project, and our fans have once again come together to help provide selection boxes and donate further monies to families in poverty.

More than 200 teddies watched Rovers beat Swindon Town

The generosity of our supporters and partners this year truly represents the culture of what we want our club(s) to be and I hope we represent you well.  This month, both our Academy and first team players were heavily involved in the preparing and delivering of the food hampers, the staff at Club Doncaster donated the monies that would have been spent on a Christmas party to the Foundation, the Rovers players came together to buy a brand new bike for the cleaner at the training ground, provided a camera for the Doncaster Rovers Belles team and each chipped in to donate some funds for other staff members weddings and personal activities.  Meanwhile the Doncaster Rovers Belles players have also contributed funds from their own pockets and used them to buy more £400 of food for local foodbanks.

In what has been an unforgettable year for all the wrong reasons, I hope you are proud of how we have responded to the pandemic and our interactions with you this year and if not please let us know what we can do better, as we will be releasing an In Rovers We Trust survey within the next few days.

Enjoy Christmas and please stay safe.

Wishing you all the best for 2021.

Gavin
