James' work paying off

16 December 2020

Reece James says he’s been working hard on getting into dangerous areas after his double sealed a 2-0 win over Swindon Town in Sky Bet League One.

The 27-year-old took his tally for the season to five, and believes he’s benefitted from playing further up the pitch.

He said: “I got a bit of a lucky break with the first one but I’ll take any goal that comes my way, luckily they’ve both gone in.

“I do a lot of work in training on making those type of runs and getting myself into positions where I can get a shot on goal.

“Other players open up space with their own runs, and that allows me to get in there and try to cause problems.”

James felt Rovers again showed they can win games in different ways after making it three straight league victories.

He added: “It was a quick start to the second-half and the gaffer wanted us to get on the front foot, we showed what we’re capable of.

“Teams change the way that they play to handle us, for us it’s about dealing with that and finding ways to win games.

“We’ve all got to take responsibility and be comfortable on the ball, it’s just making sure we’re working hard as a team.”
