Moore pleased with another three points

16 December 2020

Darren Moore was pleased to see his side secure a valuable three points against Swindon Town in Sky Bet League One.

Reece James scored a brace to help Rovers on their way to another victory at the Keepmoat Stadium, and move them into the play-off places.

Moore said: “Reece is in form at the moment and has been a really good utility player for the team. When we’ve played him further forward he has shown us he has an eye for goal.

“He is an important player because of the different roles he can play. He can play in defence, midfield and we’ve seen him play across the front line. In all those positions he looks comfortable which shows his versatility.

“I saw this ability in him when I first came to the club and looking at him and the type of player he is, I thought he is equally as good higher up the pitch. I never hesitate putting him up there.”

The Rovers boss felt patience was key against Swindon as his side had to wait until the 47th minute to break the deadlock.

He added: “At times the game was scrappy and we needlessly gave the ball away. However, other times we put on some good passages of play and we took our chances when they presented themselves to us.

“We had to be patient when we were out of possession and I thought we were a credit to ourselves. The onus was on us to win the game and it was tough with how Swindon set up, we had to be patient and keep moving the ball.

“Swindon are performing well and it is only a matter of time before results will start coming their way. With that in mind I think that reflects how valuable these three points are. They have been very unfortunate in their previous games where they’ve lost. I expect them to start climbing the league soon, because they are a good team."
