Smith: Togetherness is key

14 December 2020

Matt Smith says the togetherness in the Rovers squad has been key to picking up positive results in Sky Bet League One.

Rovers have lost just one of their past seven league games, and the midfielder says the belief in the group is massive.

He said: “I think we know how good a team we are, there have been times when we haven’t had that belief but our togetherness has shown over the last few games.

“We’re getting ourselves into good areas and creating chances, we could have had more goals but we’ve done really well to take our chances recently.

“It’s been great for me so far as well, I feel like I’m improving as a player and as a person. The lads are great and I’m taking every game as a new challenge.”

With Swindon Town the next test at the Keepmoat Stadium, Smith believes it will be another difficult game for Darren Moore’s men.

He added: “They’re a good team who try and play good football, it will be a very different game to the one we faced on Saturday.

“There are no easy games at this level, but we’re all confident of doing what we can to get another three points and pushing on.”
