Youth Development Phase players joined Club Doncaster staff in making hampers for the Club Doncaster Foundation’s tackling loneliness project earlier this month.

Academy graduates Louis Jones, Danny Amos, Lirak Hasani, and Ben Blythe were among the Rovers first-team players who joined Doncaster Rovers Belles and Doncaster RLFC players and staff in delivering hampers to isolated and vulnerable people across Doncaster early in December.

The Academy played their part with coaches and staff volunteering their time to head out across the borough to deliver hampers but on the previous evening the U11s and U12s gave up some of their coaching time to help put the last of the hamper items together.

Rovers Academy graduate and now Academy coach Cam Foulkes said: “It’s great for the kids to get different experiences and this also adds a bit of perspective as to how lucky they are.

“Giving them experiences like this off the pitch will help turn them in to more rounded people and that’s what we’re looking for. We don’t just want players who are good on the pitch, we want to good people as well.

“We think we’ve got that in the system but things like this help reinforce it.”
