Three of Rovers players out on loan featured for their clubs this weekend with Max Watters and Alex Kiwomya starting for Maidstone United and Chorley FC respectively, while Rieves Boocock made an impact from the bench for Cleethorpes Town.

Watters made his first start for Maidstone United this weekend against Hampton & Richmond in the National League South. He played all 90 minutes and put in an impressive individual performance, despite Maidstone cruelly losing 2-1 in the final minutes of the game.

Watters had chances to get on the scoresheet, but he was denied by a great save from the keeper, and then by the offside flag after having the ball in the net. He was unfortunate not to have that a dream goalscoring debut. However, with 90 minutes of first team football under his belt, there was plenty of positives to take away for the young forward.

Kiwomya made his first start for Chorley FC against Barnet this weekend, after coming off the bench to great effect the weekend before against Ebbsfleet United. The forward led a surge of late pressure from Chorley to try and find an equaliser against Ebbsfleet, creating chances and winning his team a penalty. But his teammate’s penalty was saved, leaving Chorley to go home empty handed.

On Saturday, Kiwomya played 78 minutes against Barnet and showed attacking promise particularly in the first half. He was unable to get an all-important goal, but he made a nuisance of himself to the opposition defence and gained some valuable first team game time as he continues his road to recovery after his recent injury

Boocock made his first appearance on the Cleethorpes bench this weekend. This has been his only real chance of being a part of their squad as their most recent fixture was postponed and the last game that they played was only a day after he’d signed. He came on for the final 15 minutes and made a dramatic impact, creating Cleethorpes’ third goal with a brilliant cross just minutes after coming off the bench.
