Sadlier expecting tough conditions at Gillingham

Kieran Sadlier believes weather conditions might play their part on Saturday as Rovers prepare to travel to Priestfield Road to face Gillingham.

Rovers had a tough afternoon when they visited Kent for an FA Cup tie earlier in the season but Rovers can take confidence from their decent recent away from.

“Gillingham is a tough place to play – no doubt it will be cold, windy and wet as it has been for the last few games,” Sadlier said.

“They’re on a good run – I think its 12 unbeaten now. We know how they set up their teams, and they’ve got a few more players in since we last played them so it will be a tough game.

“But we’re coming off the back of a win, and we want to go down there and come away with the win.”

Rovers have won six of their last 10 matches since the start of 2020 and are hoping to build on that on Saturday.

“We’ve played well in the last few games. Obviously there was a bit of a blip against Fleetwood Town and we would have liked to have done better against Rochdale, but generally we’ve responded well,” Sadlier added.

“We did very well last year, and so people look at us to do well again this year and we are doing well, we’re sitting just outside the play-offs and that’s not a bad place to be with 14 games to go – it’s now up to us whether we go one step further and press into the top six.”
