Matty Blair enjoyed being back out on the pitch after playing 45 minutes for Rovers’ Development side.
Despite a 3-0 defeat to a more experienced Rochdale side in the Central League Cup, the Rovers midfielder took positives from his first outing since September.
He said: “It was very good to be back and I enjoyed getting 45 minutes under my belt after a long time out.
“The progress since my operation has been good, we’re ahead of schedule and it feels great so I’m happy to be back.
“It has been frustrating not playing but these things happen and there was nothing we could do about it at the time.”
Despite his injury keeping him out for a large chunk of the season so far, Blair says he has stayed around the group to keep them motivated.
He added: “Even while I’ve been injured I’ve tried to make sure I’m around the lads and helping them out where I can.
“If any of them need advice then I’m always around, I’m the type of person that likes to make sure everything is going well for people.”
