3 January 2020

Rovers brought in the new year by defeating Oxford United at the Keepmoat Stadium and at half time, Rovers and club historian John Coyle inducted Fred Emery into the hall of fame.

Emery was voted by the fans as the standout player of the 1930s after coming second to Tom Keetley in the 1920s vote. Emery joined Rovers aged 24 and went on to play 417 times for the club – a record that stood until James Coppinger overtook him in the 2015-16 season.
