Halliday backs Rovers to respond to Coventry defeat

19 January 2020

Brad Halliday says the Rovers squad are determined to hit back after being beaten by Coventry City in Sky Bet League One.

Jordan Shipley’s first-half strike was the difference between the two sides, and Halliday believes there wasn’t much in the game.

He said: “It was a disappointing result, they didn’t have too many chances but we’ve come away with nothing from it.

“The first goal was always going to be important and once they got it they made it tough for us to break them down.

“They are one of the best teams in the league but I think we’re up there as well, it wasn’t to be for us but we move on quickly.”

The defeat at the Keepmoat Stadium was Rovers’ first of 2020, and the full-back says they have shown in recent weeks what they are capable of.

He added: “We were all gutted to lose as we went into the game on the back of a good run and fancying ourselves to extend that.

“We believe on our day we can beat anyone in this league but we just have to pick ourselves up and move on.”
