Moore delighted with the acquisition of Okenabirhie

30 January 2020

Darren Moore was delighted with the acquisition of Fejiri Okenabirhie from Shrewsbury Town.

Okenabirhie put pen to paper on the two and half year deal with Rovers and Moore believes he is the perfect fit for his Rovers squad.

“We felt it was good to bring Fej because we felt we needed someone in that department,” said Moore.

“He possesses all the attributes that we really want and he’s a wonderful player, a clever player, he can link play, causes opposition by going in behind and obviously he’s got an eye for goal as well and we felt it was important to bring someone like that into the club.

“When he gets in front of goal, Fej is composed, clean with his finishing and he’s got good direction to his play.”

Okenabirhie is the second striker through the door this week after Devante Cole joined the club on Monday adding competition for places up front.

“When you look what we’ve got up top in Niall, Sads, Coppinger, Devante, Fej now and Jon Taylor, there’s versatility up there so we’re really pleased with that,” Moore added.

“I don’t think you can have too many players up there really. There’s space for them all to operate within the team, they can play together.

“I see them fitting into the system really well. We were a little bit thin in that area. Coppinger, Taylor, Ennis and Sadlier have all done really well up there but I just thought that we could do with a bit more competition and we’ve got two lads that will add that.”
