James Adcock will be the man in charge when Rovers travel to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland on Friday.
The official from Nottinghamshire has overseen two Rovers matches this season – a 3-2 home victory over Fleetwood Town and an away draw with Coventry City at St Andrews.
He gave out nine cards across these two matches. In total this season, he has awarded 42 yellow cards and three reds.
Adcock qualified as a referee in 2000 at the age of 16. Adcock was appointed to the EFL as an assistant referee in 2008 and to the National List of Referees in 2011.
On Friday, he will be assisted by Alan Clayton, and Chris Isherwood. The fourth official will be Michael Salisbury.
