Bobby Rooney born July 8 1938.
Scottish-born Bobby began his playing career with Clydebank before moving south to join Sheffield United in June 1958.
In October 1962 Rovers manager Oscar Hold signed him and he scored on his debut in a 2-2 home draw with Rochdale on October 30. Click here for all the players who scored on their Rovers debut.
He made only four more appearances for Rovers before being transferred to Lincoln City in January 1963. He left Lincoln eighteen months later and went on to play for Cambridge City and Gainsborough Trinity. He died in 2016, aged 78.
