Gavin Worboys born July 14, 1974.
Locally born and a product of Rovers’ youth scheme, Gavin was pitched into action in a team struggling at the foot of Division Four in 1991-92.
The striker made his debut in February 1992 and in only his third start he scored his first League goal in a 3-2 win over Scarborough. His promise led to much interest from other clubs and before the season ended Notts County paid £100,000 to sign him, an offer cash-strapped Rovers could not refuse.
Gavin failed to make the first team at Meadow Lane and eventually joined Darlington, where he enjoyed some success. After a spell at Northampton Town though, he drifted into non-League football including a spell at Eastwood Town where he played alongside a future Rover in Glenn Kirkwood.
Gavin’s Rovers career was seven appearances and two goals.
