Carl Ikeme born June 8, 1986.
Born in Sutton Coldfield, Carl spent his entire career at Wolverhampton Wanderers, but also appeared for eight other clubs on loan.
The Nigerian international goalkeeper had two loan spells with Rovers, both in the 2011-12 season when the club was struggling at the foot of the Championship. He initially joined in November 2011, making his debut in a 0-2 defeat at Barnsley and going on to play five times.
At the beginning of March 2012, he returned for a further ten games, nine of them coming during an exceptionally busy March. Despite his assistance, Rovers were relegated at the end of the campaign.
Carl became established as Wolves’ first choice goalkeeper in 2012-13 and helped them to the League One title in 2013-14. In July 2017 he was diagnosed with acute leukaemia and a year later, following intensive treatment, he retired from football, although his illness remains in complete remission.
