Daral Pugh born June 5, 1961 (Rovers had no-one born on June 4)
Born at Crynant near Neath, Daral joined Rovers in December 1978 and was one of several youngsters given opportunities by manager Billy Bremner.
He made his debut in January 1979, coming off the bench to replace Peter Bowden in a 1-0 home win over Hereford United. The winger was a key member of the squad that won promotion from Division Four in 1980-81, his crosses proving a valuable supply line for strikers Alan Warboys, Ian Nimmo and Richard Dawson. He was also capped twice by Wales at Under-21 level.
In September 1982 he was transferred to Huddersfield Town in a cash plus player deal that saw Terry Austin move to Belle Vue. Later he played for Rotherham United and Torquay United and after retiring went into youth coaching and currently works at Sheffield Wednesday’s Academy. His son Joe made one appearance for Rovers in 2016-17. Daral’s record with Rovers was 178 appearances and 17 goals.
