Joe Keetley born June 28, 1897.
Derby-born Joe was one of six brothers who played professional football, and one of four who played for Rovers during their career.
A nomadic forward, Joe started at Bolton Wanderers but came to prominence during a brief but successful spell with Accrington Stanley, where he scored eight times in 13 games. This earned him a move to First Division Liverpool, but he didn’t stay there long.
In 1925-26 he played for three different clubs, starting the season at Wolverhampton Wanderers, moving to Wrexham and then, in February 1926, to Rovers. He made his debut that month, alongside brothers Tom and Harold, in a 1-1 home draw with Wigan Borough but made only one more appearance for Rovers.
That brought down the curtain on his professional career, but he later played for Horwich RMI and Lancaster. He died in 1958.
