Neil Redfearn born June 20, 1965
A much-travelled midfielder, Neil made over 900 senior appearances in a Football League career that spanned 12 years. He had only one season with Rovers, but he made a considerable impact.
Neil was signed by manager Dave Cusack in August 1986 from Lincoln City for a fee of £17,500. He was an ever-present and his 14 League goals steered Cusack’s team away from relegation from Division Three.
In July 1987 Second Division Crystal Palace paid £100,000 to sign Neil and he helped them to 6th place in 1987-88. Between 1991 and 1998 he was at Barnsley and he scored 17 League goals in 1996-97 as the Reds were promoted to the Premier League.
Neil also played in the top-flight with Charlton Athletic and Bradford City. He later became a coach and was manager of Leeds United in 2014-15 and Rotherham United the following season.
Subsequently he was manager of Doncaster Rovers Belles. His full record for Rovers was 15 goals in 53 appearances.
