14 June 2020

Shaun Goodwin born June 14, 1969

Shaun had eleven seasons with his hometown club, Rotherham United, making over 350 appearances for them and helping them to two promotions and Football League Trophy success.

He joined Rovers at the start of the 1998-99 season, when they competed in the Football Conference for the first time. Shaun captained Rovers in their opening game, a 0-1 defeat at Dover Athletic, and a week later he scored Rovers’ first Conference goal, from the penalty spot, as they beat Kidderminster Harriers 1-0. He also played in both legs of the Conference League Cup Final, as Rovers beat Farnborough Town 4-0 on aggregate to claim the trophy.

In November 1999 he left Rovers for fellow Conference team Altrincham and later he had a spell as manager of Maltby Main.

For Rovers he made 42 senior appearances, scoring five goals.
