Butler hopes to see Rovers fans at Oxford Street

14 March 2020

Belles' first-team manager Andy Butler hopes to see some Rovers fans looking for their football fix down at Oxford Street on Sunday.

Rovers’ matches in Sky Bet League One until April 3 have been postponed by the EFL in reaction to the coronavirus pandemic, however the Belles clash with Birmingham and West Midlands is still going ahead on Sunday (KO is 2pm).

The Belles saw one of their biggest crowds of the season last weekend when they hosted Wolves in the FAWNL Division One Midlands, and Butler is hopeful that the lack of Rovers action will see some more fans head to Rossington to get their football fix.

He said: "We had a good crowd last Sunday and the atmosphere was pretty good too, hopefully we can get a few more through the door and really show what the Belles can bring.

"They are a big club with a big badge, and the support really does help the girls, the encouragement is a big thing and we want to see as many people behind them as possible.

"Obviously it'll be frustrating for Rovers fans not being able to go and watch the first-team play on a Saturday, but we'll still be here and hopefully those fans that still want to go and watch a game can come down to Oxford Street on Sunday and support the girls."

Following the latest Public Health England advice the club ask any supporters with cough or feverish symptoms as described here to refrain from attending.
