With football across the country and the world on pause, the Club Doncaster commercial department have launched a sporting event of their own to keep people and businesses entertained.
All 64 Club Doncaster official partners were invited to take place in the Rock, Paper, Scissors Official Partner Cup which will be played out on the commercial twitter account throughout the coming weeks.
A representative from each of the participating companies will play three rounds of rock, paper, scissors against a representative from a different company with the winner progressing to the next stage.
All videos have been filmed at home by the company representatives as they continue to abide by the NHS advice of #StayHomeSaveLives.
The initial ties will be decided by a draw which, in keeping with the principles of social distancing, will be conducted by Club Doncaster head of commercial Jon Warburton and his eight month old daughter Clara at their home. All further ties will be decided through a knockout format similar to that used in the FIFA World Cup.
The commercial department will also be profiling each of their partners over the coming 64 days in order to highlight some of the amazing companies that support Club Doncaster – this will also give Rovers fans a chance to find out more about the businesses that will be competing in the event.
Warburton said: “We wanted to find a way to continue to give value to our official partners during a time when there will be no football and we thought a knockout style rock, paper, scissors tournament which can be played at home would be a fun thing for everyone to get involved in.
“The partner profiles and the newly introduced our partners page on the Doncaster Rovers website will also give people a chance to see all the local and national companies which support us and find out more about them.
“We’re living in unprecedented and difficult times so we’re hoping that a rock, paper, scissors cup will bring a bit of fun to people’s day.”
