Extra steps taken to ensure Sunday Market can go ahead

19 March 2020

Extra steps are being taken to ensure the Sunday Market held at the Keepmoat Stadium can continue.

The event will be limited to market traders, with advice being that keeping the market in operation will provide a valuable opportunity for people to purchase vital household items and food.

Club Doncaster's head of stadium and operations Marie Hepburn said: "Government advice remains that risk of the Covid-19 coronavirus at outdoor events remains low, but we want to assure those who attend that we have taken steps to help them remain as safe as possible.

"We will have hand sanitiser available for everyone attending the event, which any steward will be able to point you towards.

"We have kept ourselves fully abreast of the latest health advice throughout this time, we are told this could really help small traders and take a small bit of the strain off supermarkets who have high demand. We'd particularly welcome traders with household items and food stuff.

"We will, however, focus on market traders with no car boot and will not operate the Kiwi Cafe out of an abundance of caution.

"We would also encourage everyone attending to follow good hygiene practices such as washing their hands thoroughly and keep a safe distance between themselves and other people. And, of course, if you are displaying any of the symptoms - a cough or temperature - please keep away."
