Loan watch: starts for Kiwomya and Watters

2 March 2020

Rovers forwards Max Watters and Alex Kiwomya were handed starts by their loan clubs this weekend.

Watters was part of the Maidstone United squad who travelled to third-in-the-table Weymouth in the National League South.

The Stones ended up losing 5-1 but there were some positives for the Rovers youngster to take away from the game.

Watters forced a couple of good saves from the Weymouth goalkeeper Callum Ward, as well as having a goal ruled out for offside for the second week in a row.

Kiwomya was handed another start by National League side Chorley, playing 72 minutes of their 2-0 loss at Torquay United as he continues to build up match fitness following injury.

Ian Lawlor returned to the bench for Scunthorpe United at Port Vale as he returned from a groin problem, and will look to compete for a return to the starting XI as the Iron travel to Swindon Town in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday.

There was no game for Rieves Boocock as Cleethorpes Town’s fixture against Wisbech Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
