Jason Lokilo says he is ready to kick on and earn his place in the Rovers’ side ahead of Saturday’s trip to Milton Keynes.
Lokilo scored in Monday’s 6-1 victory over Scunthorpe United in the Central League, scoring one and assisting another in an impressive showing, and he believes he is now ready to go in the first team.
“It’s always good to play, every time I step on a football pitch I just want to do well, whether that’s while I’ve been playing with the under-23s or the first-team, I just want to do my best, so I was pleased with how I’ve done in those games,” he said.
“It was good to make my debut last weekend and I’m hoping to get even more chances to play between now and the end of the season, I’ve just had to stay patient and work hard in training before getting my chance.
“I feel ready to go now, as a player you always have to make sure that you’re ready as you never know when you might play, I’m feeling fully fit and I’m ready to kick on now, I always try to stay positive.”
Lokilo came off the bench to set up the third goal in last weekend’s 3-1 win at home to Wycombe Wanderers, and the man on-loan from Crystal Palace is looking to make even more of an impact in the team once he gets his chance.
“I like to score goals and try to create a lot of chances in games, I want to help the team, it’s not always about me, it’s the team first but I’ll always be happy to get a goal or grab an assist,” he added.
“I always want to be involved of course, but we are a team and everyone will have a chance to play, I think the most important thing is that we stay together as a group, and the boys have been great since I got here.
“Now I’m here, I want to give everything for this football club, I just want to kick on with my career and get some games under my belt, I’m here until the summer and I’m just focusing on doing well until then, and hopefully I can do that.”
