Gary McSheffrey felt his side put in a complete performance after they beat Scunthorpe United reserves 6-1 in Central League North.

Two goals from Junior Smith along with strikes from Matty Blair, Jack Watson, Jason Lokilo and Rieves Boocock sealed the win for the U23s at Cantley Park.

He said: “I thought it was a complete performance from us in the first half, the end product and final pass was good and we scored some great goals.

“It was a young Scunthorpe team but you can only beat what is in front of you and the boys applied themselves really well.

“The goals were shared around and that is pleasing to see, our front four and full-backs got in behind and caused them problems.”

Palace loanee Lokilo produced a brilliant individual performance, and McSheffrey says he has enjoyed working with the winger so far.

He added: “On the ball he is top class, I spoke to Richard Shaw who was his under-23s coach at Crystal Palace and the message was how good he was.

“He plays in similar positions to where I used to so it’s really good to be able to work with him whenever I can.

“He’s buying into how hard he has to work off the ball as well so if he adds that to his game consistently - he will be some player.”
