Moore: Wycombe win our best of the season

Darren Moore labelled the victory over Wycombe Wanderers as Rovers’ best of the season so far as they kept in touch with the Sky Bet League One play-off places.

Goals from Niall Ennis and Kieran Sadlier, along with a late own-goal from Jason McCarthy secured all three points at the Keepmoat Stadium.

He said: “We wanted to keep the ball in play as much as we could so the goal just before half-time was the best thing that could have happened for us.

Their game plan was disrupted after that and it meant they had to come out and play which worked in our favour.

“With the amount of young players we had out on the field I’d say it was probably our best win of the season so far.”

Moore was full of praise for left-back Danny Amos, who slotted in seamlessly in what was his first league start of the campaign.

He added: “He was up against some really tricky players out there and he dealt with that really well throughout the game.

“He had to feel his way into it because it is a big step up from the under-23s, but he has been ready for a while so I had no concerns about putting him in.

“That performance in a game against a team towards the top end of the table will be great for Danny’s development.”
