Rover of the Day: Jack Green

Jack Green born March 19 1910.

news-1920-Jack-Green.jpg Green was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. After spells with Crook Town, Newcastle United, Gateshead and Usworth Colliery, he signed for Rovers in July 1933.

He made his debut on October 14 1933, playing at centre-half in a 2-1 home win over Carlisle United. The following season he made 22 League appearances, most of them alongside the experienced Fred Emery, earning a Division Three (North) Championship medal. The following season he lost his place to Joe Hall and in July 1936 he was transferred to Darlington. In all for Rovers he made 50 senior appearances without scoring a goal. He died in 1980 aged 70.
