Russ Wilcox - born on March 25 1964
Russ had three spells at Rovers, two of them as a player.
He was a trainee with Rovers and made his debut in May 1981 in a 1-1 draw at Mansfield Town, the final game of the 1980-81 season.
In 1982 he was released and joined Frickley Athletic, where he spent four years and was twice capped by the England Semi-Professional team. In 1986 he returned to League football with Northampton Town and then played for Hull City before signing for Rovers in July 1993.
Now a seasoned campaigner he was appointed club captain and went on to make a total of 93 senior appearances for Rovers, scoring eight goals. In September 1995 he was sold to Preston North End, whom he helped to the Third Division Championship. Later he played for Scunthorpe United before moving into coaching and management.
Between 2016 and 2018 he was Head of Recruitment for Rovers and he is now acting first-team manager at Scunthorpe United.
