Anderson believes this season has been one of personal progression

Tom Anderson has had his best season in a Rovers shirt and believes that 2019/20 has been a season of real progression for him both on and off the field.

The centre-back’s performances has made sure he is one of the first names on the team sheet and Doncaster Free Press have named him as their player of the season, and Anderson named two former Rovers centre-backs who’ve helped him improve.

“I watched Andy Butler last year on and off the pitch and he was a very good leader and someone to look up to. I’ve almost tried to be like that myself this season – whether that’s leading by example or in how I play,” he said.

“The gaffer’s been brilliant too. It obviously helped me massively that he was a centre-half himself and he had a very, very good career. Whatever he says to me I listen, I take what he says on board and then take it into games.”

The 26-year-old joined skipper Ben Whiteman in committing his long-term future to the club earlier this season, signing a

“First and foremost, I think this is a great club regarding everything the staff everything, you don’t get family club of the year for nothing.

“It’s a great club to be a part of and I’m really enjoying my time here.”
