Academy players seek home from home placements

4 November 2020

From one player to another ….  our boys academy are looking for 'home from home' placements for young players who need to live away from home to undertake their football training at the Club during their two year scholarship.

We are currently looking for single placements, for persons who are able to house one player at a time, working within the COVID guidelines for elite sports people.

Can you help?

The Academy are interested in hearing from people who are able to offer placements for players and trialists between the ages of 16 and 18 years.

There are a number of players from a wide variety of locations and background who need to live away from home to undertake their training. The Academy are looking to expand their Host Family scheme, particularly in the vicinity of the Cantley Park training ground, to ensure the ability to match each player to an appropriate family based on their needs.

The Academy are currently seeking fully supportive, inclusive placements within family homes and semi-independent accommodation offering access to separate living accommodation such as converted house areas or annexes.

A variable monthly fee is payable to the host family for the duration of the placement. With players returning home during the weekend following their games, and returning in time to start training again.

If you would like to apply to provide a caring 'home from home', please be aware that this position is subject to a Disclosure & Barring service (DBS) check and that all persons who are resident in the accommodation will be required to undertake this disclosure at host level.

Doncaster Rovers Football Club are committed to Equal Opportunities as well as safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All applicants will be required to undergo a full assessment to ensure compliance with safeguarding and fostering regulations prior to consideration, and demonstrate they are able to share the commitment to assisting with the future development off field of young players.

If you would like further information about becoming a Host Family, please apply via e-mail in the first instance to Kirsty Cavanagh, Head of People & Culture, at kirsty.cavanagh@clubdoncaster.co.uk
