Butler: everyone has played their part

9 November 2020

Andy Butler says the Rovers players and staff have been a big help since he took temporary charge of the side.

Butler is standing in for Darren Moore while the manager is self-isolating, and believes he couldn’t have had better support from those around him.

He said: “It was all positive feedback and it is a strange one for me given the circumstances but it’s something I’ve relished.

“It’s a different pressure to playing and myself and Nick Buxton have both dealt with that pressure and made sure the players represent us.

“The players and staff have been fantastic over the past few days, they all know how important their roles are.”

Rovers face Wolverhampton Wanderers U21s in the Papa John’s Trophy on Tuesday night, and Butler says it won’t be an easy game at the Keepmoat Stadium.

He added: “It will be another tough game for us, but one where we know we need to get a positive result to get through to the next round.

“We’ll have a strong squad out there and look to apply ourselves well, the games against the younger teams are very technical.”
