Experience key for Jones

10 November 2020

Louis Jones says starting games in cup competitions is helping to develop him as a goalkeeper.

The 22-year-old has featured in both the FA Cup and the Papa John’s Trophy this season, and is hoping his performances can catch the eye of the Rovers coaching staff.

He said: “I enjoyed getting the opportunity to play in the FA Cup, they are the games I want to play in and show my ability.

“I feel like I’ve done well when I’ve played, I think my composure shows with how the defenders are around me.

“Every game I’m learning something different about myself, the step up in level means there are fine details I can pick out where I can improve.”

Rovers face Wolves U21s in the Papa John’s Trophy on Tuesday night, and Jones is confident of a positive result at the Keepmoat Stadium.

He added: “They’ll be a good side who set high standards, it’s a Premier League team so they will be very good on the ball.

“It’s an important match in the context of the group, we back ourselves to go out there and get a positive result.”
