Rovers put in a professional performance and avoided an upset when they faced FC United of Manchester live on BBC Two.
Rovers took an early lead through Fejiri Okenabirhie, and Ben Whiteman doubled the lead minutes later. Regan Linney did really well to get one back for the hosts on the half-hour mark - pouncing on a poor touch at the back and running almost 40 yards to slot past Louis Jones - but hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed with Josh Sims and James Coppinger adding to Rovers tally before half-time.
Sims got another just after the break making for a comfortable evening for Rovers.
