James pleased to play his part

24 November 2020

Reece James says he has enjoyed doing a job for the team after playing in the central midfield role in recent weeks.

The 27-year-old has slotted in seamlessly alongside captain Ben Whiteman, and is pleased manager Darren Moore has shown that faith in him.

He said: “It’s been a bit different for me, I played in midfield when I was younger but haven’t done so in the professional game up to now.

“It’s great knowing the manager has the trust in me to put me in there, it’s very different and can vary depending on the opposition.

“I have to adapt my own game because I’ve been used to seeing the game in front of me, and now the game can be played all around you.”

With Blackpool the next test for Rovers in Sky Bet League One, James believes it is set up for an entertaining game at the Keepmoat Stadium.

He added: “Blackpool have been on a really good run recently, the gaffer has told us all about that and made sure we know their threats.

“It’s important that we try and impose ourselves on them though, we know what we can do to hurt them.”
