Goalkeeper Joe Lumley has joined Rovers on a seven-day emergency loan from Queens Park Rangers.
The 25-year-old has made more than 70 appearances in the Championship for his parent club including two this season. Lumley also has Sky Bet League One experience having spent time on loan at Blackpool and Bristol Rovers.
This will be the second time Lumley has been used as an emergency loan this season. The keeper joined Gillingham for two matches playing against Sunderland and Crewe Alexandra.
Lumley trained with Rovers on Friday and will be available to play on Saturday when Rovers face Phil Parkinson’s Black Cats at the Keepmoat Stadium.
