Moore relishing developing young players

26 November 2020

Darren Moore says he relishes the opportunity of developing young players in the game.

Rovers have the fifth youngest squad in Sky Bet League One with the overall average age of the team being 24.3 years old.

Moore has secured young loan signings such as Tyreece John-Jules, Matt Smith and Taylor Richards to name a few. As well as introducing Academy graduate Liam Ravenhill to the senior squad who has since gone on to represent Northern Ireland’s U21 side at the age of 17.

He said: “I have a desire within me to bring in these young players and showcase them to prove that they can perform on the front line. Irrespective of the level of club that they have come from.

“What they have to learn about is getting the consistency. Any sportsman or women would say to you that the one ingredient that is needed to be successful is the ability to perform and perform well on a consistent basis.

“This is what we try and give the young players here. You can only hope that they learn from games like the first half against Blackpool because that will have been a learning curve for them.”
