Ben Whiteman felt Rovers produced a committed performance in the 2-1 victory over Carlisle United in the Emirates FA Cup second round.
The captain’s double at Brunton Park secured Rovers’ progress, and he says the whole team gave everything to get the win.
He said: “It was a tough game like we knew it would be, we were good in patches in the first-half but they put some pressure on us.
“Everyone put their bodies on the line and Joe made a few good saves too, as a team we worked really hard to get the win.
“They know what they’re good at but we dealt with most of it and getting the two goals before the break settled us down.”
After picking up some positive results at the start of a busy fixture schedule, Whiteman believes momentum will be key in the next few weeks.
He added: “It’s been a good week for us and we’re coming into a stage of the season where you need to get results.
“We want performances as well but if you can pick up wins regularly it can give you some really good momentum.”
