Ethan Bojang has been named Rovers’ U18 captain team for the 2020/21 season after impressing manager Paul Stancliffe.

The second year scholar has been given the honour after his impressive form last season and the way he conducted himself through his injury.

Stancliffe said: “He started off last season ever so well. He got injured and missed a fair bit, but it really appealed to me to give him a shot. It was tough because there’s a few other leaders in the squad too.”

The midfielder is relishing the challenge to take the armband off last year's captain Ben Blythe who led to the team to their first ever championship and secured himself a professional contract at the club.

Bojang said: “It’s a privilege to have been named captain this year after a personally disrupted season last year but I’m glad I’m starting to kick on.

“I’ve got some big boots to fill after Ben Blythe led the team to a trophy last year so I’m hoping to push this year’s team on to hopefully some more success. I think we’ve got a squad willing to learn and they are hungry for success.

“I think the fact I demand a lot from myself as well as my teammates will help us this season and enable us to do well as a team.”
