Deja vu for Moore at Oldham

7 October 2020

Darren Moore felt it was a case of deja vu for Rovers after defeat to Oldham at Boundary Park.

Moore’s side were beaten 2-0 by the Latics in the EFL Trophy, and he felt it was a similar game to the one at Wigan three days earlier.

He said: “I’m disappointed to lose the game and I think it was a similar type of game to Saturday, we played well in the first half but couldn’t make the most of it.

“We created some chances and the final touch alluded us again, in the second-half Oldham grew into the game and got about us a bit more.

“Individual mistakes have cost us the game in the end so it’s one for us to look at and how we prevent that from happening again.”

With a break now before Rovers’ next competitive fixture, Moore is hoping to use that time wisely before a trip to Portsmouth on October 17.

He added: “It gives me the opportunity to work with the boys and spend time on the training pitch with the players.

“I’m able to have longer sessions and work more on certain points, we’ll do a lot of video analysis as well on the areas we’ve fallen short in.

“It’s a good chance for everybody to spend plenty of time working hard before we get into a really busy programme.”
