Rovers fell to their first defeat of the season at the hands of Crewe Alexandra in Sky Bet League One.
Crewe took the lead through Callum Kirk but Josh Sims equalised just one minute later to kick start a period of dominance for Rovers. The home side boasted most of the posession and chances but they were unable to find a way through a resolute Crewe side.
Crewe took the lead in the second half when Harry Pickering scored direct from a free-kick. Excellent goalkeeping denied Joe Wright late on when he headed on target from Jason Lokilo's corner and Ben Whiteman appeared to have earned Rovers a point in injury time when he volleyed a fierce effort on target but it was blocked by Ryan Wintle.
