Reece James believes Rovers did more than enough to take something from the game after being beaten by Wigan Athletic in Sky Bet League One.
Joe Garner’s goal was the difference between the two sides but James says Rovers created enough to earn a result.
He said: “It was a frustrating one for us, first half we should have got ourselves in front which would have made it a different game.
“We’ve paid the price for lacking that cutting edge, our play was really good up until the finish and that needs to be worked on.
“You look at Wigan’s team and a lot of them are still of Championship quality, it was a good test to come here and we felt we more than matched them.”
James has been part of a back four that have established themselves as one of the best in the division in recent times, and he says they will look into the goal conceded and how they can improve on it.
He added: “There were a few mistakes leading up to the goal which is disappointing but something we will look back on and find out why it happened.“We’re confident as a unit that we can keep teams out, we’ve played together for a while now and have that understanding.”
