Kevin Baker wins auction bid to be a Rovers' player

5 October 2020

Lifelong Rovers fan Kevin Baker describes being Rovers’ (not quite real) deadline day signing as a dream come true.

Kevin was one of many fans who bid in the Club Doncaster Auction which raised money for both Club Doncaster and the NHS. He has been a supporter since he was a child and the opportunity to sign on the dotted line on deadline day was too good to pass up.

As well as going through the media experience of being an eleventh hour signing, Kevin was also given a Rovers home and away shirt with his name and number printed and will appear on the squad list in the official matchday programme for the rest of the 2020/21 season.

Kevin said: “It’s brilliant.

“I bid on this because it’s a great cause supporting both the NHS and the club. I bid on a few things but this is the one that I really wanted so I’m really glad I got it. It’s a dream come true.

“Seeing my name and number on the back of the Rovers’ shirt is unbelievable - it’s a childhood dream actually.”

While it’s not possible for Kevin to enjoy all of his prize yet (a meal with manager Darren Moore and a visit to the training ground are still to come), everyone at Rovers is grateful for Kevin's ongoing support none more so than Moore himself who featured in Kevin’s announcement video.

Moore added: “As a family club, it’s great to see the fans supporting us which is valuable at this time. Everyone at Club Doncaster is really appreciative of the support of Kevin and all the other fans who bid in the Club Doncaster Auction.”
