Moore rues missed chances

4 October 2020

Darren Moore felt his side were made to pay for missed opportunities in the defeat to Wigan in Sky Bet League One.

Rovers had several chances to go in front at the DW Stadium, before Joe Garner’s second-half header sealed all three points for the home side.

He said: “The main reason we lost the game was the chances we missed, we felt the game should have been out of sight at half time.

“The team know that we should have been in front at the break and we’ve spoken about being more ruthless.

“We created plenty of chances and had enough of them to be going home with all three points in the bag.”

The loss was Rovers’ first of the league campaign, and Moore wants his players to learn from it going forward.

He added: “We don’t want to lose any game and we’re always disappointed with the goals we concede but we can’t look back now.

“My main message to the boys is that we learn from this, and we make sure we don’t make the same mistakes again.”
