Tom Nield will be the man in charge when Rovers face Oldham Athletic in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday evening.
Nield joined the National List of Referees in the summer of 2017 after several successful seasons in the National League. He has only refereed one Rovers match in his three EFL campaigns – a 2-1 home win over Luton Town in 2018.
So far this season, he has taken charge of five matches handing out 14 yellow cards. Half of these bookings came in an EFL Trophy match between Mansfield Town and Manchester United U21s which United won 3-0.
Nield is also a senior nurse/ matron with the Acute & Emergency Service at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and made national headlines for his work on the NHS frontline during the height of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
He will be assisted by Joe Clark and Ravel Cheosiaua. The fourth official will be Gareth Mellor.
