Okenabirhie off the mark

21 October 2020

Fejiri Okenabirhie says his goal in the win over Ipswich Town in Sky Bet League One will give him a big confidence boost.

The No.9 bagged his first league goal of the season in the 4-1 victory at the Keepmoat Stadium, and he says that was a result of his hard work throughout the game.

He said: “I was happy to see it go in, I got my strike off early and it went where I wanted it too which was pleasing for me.

“As a striker you have to work hard for the team first and foremost, those yards hopefully mean that the goals will follow.

“I want to score goals and it was a great feeling to get one, the aim now is to add more in the coming weeks.”

Okenabirhie believes Rovers will take plenty of confidence having become the first team to beat Ipswich in the league this season.

He added: “It was a good result and good performance from the team, we’re all delighted to get another three points on the board.

“They were top of the table coming into it and we can take confidence from the fact we scored four goals against them.

“We can only control our performances and how we train every day, we only focus on game by game and don’t get too far ahead of ourselves.”
