Rovers fight flu with vaccinations

1 October 2020

Independent pharmacy chain, Weldricks, have made sure that Rovers players and staff  have the very best protection against flu this winter following a vaccination session at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Weldricks supplied the vaccinations and team doctor, Dr Tim Douglas, administered the flu jab to 50 players and staff including the youth team and staff from the club.

Commenting on the vaccination session, Dr Douglas said: “As the pandemic continues around us, it’s even more important to ensure that our players remain as fit and healthy as possible to ensure maximum performance on the pitch. Having a flu jab will give each of the players a fighting chance to stay flu-free this season.”

Superintendent pharmacist for Weldricks, Nicola Goodberry added: “Flu is highly infectious and still kills thousands of people every year. Symptoms can come on very quickly and include high fever, aching muscles, shivers, and extreme lethargy.

“It’s not just just elite footballers who should consider getting a flu jab either. Based on clinical judgment, we can administer the flu vaccine to people aged 18 and over in vulnerable at-risk groups in several of our pharmacies across South Yorkshire and the Humber region.

“This year, we have a walk-in flu jab service and an appointment system. We would ask that people make an appointment where possible to avoid disappointment. Simply download the Weldricks app and use it to make an appointment.”
