Rovers win Screwfix Moment of the Month for September

16 October 2020

Rovers have been awarded the Screwfix Moment of the Month for September after donating £10 of every home shirt sold until Christmas to fund the cancer treatment of Gemma Lee, wife of former captain Graeme Lee.

Rovers were shortlisted for September moment of the month along with some history-making footballing landmarks (Harrogate Town scoring their first EFL goal and Wycombe Wanderers playing their first match in the Championship) and an incredible effort by an AFC Wimbledon supporter who ran more than 65 miles to stadiums in London to raise funds for Mind.

The winner of moment of the month was decided by a vote on Twitter with Rovers’ donation picking up a massive 62% of the votes.

Head of communications Shaun Lockwood said: “We’re really pleased to have won the award for September moment of the month, but we don’t do things like this for the awards or recognition, we did it because it was the right thing to do. We do it because we want to support one of our former players through a difficult time.

“The fans have really got behind this – as we knew they would. We pride ourselves on being a family club and we look after one another whether you’re a supporter, staff member or former player.

“The offer will last until Christmas so supporters who would like to support Gemma and Graeme can purchase a Rovers’ home shirt until then knowing that £10 will go to Gemma’s crowdfunder.”

Everyone at the club would also like to say a huge thank you to Elite Pro Sports for making this possible.
